These terms govern your use of independentjoe.com and the content Independent
Joe publishes. By using the site, you agree to them.
WHAT THIS PROGRAM IS
Independent Joe publishes long-form, largely unedited interviews with
candidates for public office so that voters can hear them at length and decide
for themselves.
An interview is not an endorsement. Appearing on this program does not mean we
support a candidate, agree with them, or vouch for anything they say. We
invite candidates across the political spectrum and give each the same format.
Statements made by guests are their own. We make a good-faith effort to ask
fair questions and to push back on all sides, but we do not fact-check every
claim in real time, and nothing a guest says should be treated as verified by
us.
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, or voting advice. For authoritative
election information — registration, deadlines, ballots, and candidate filings
— consult your county registrar or the California Secretary of State.
USING THE SITE
You may watch, link to, and share our content. You may not:
- copy, re-upload, or redistribute our video in whole or in substantial part
without permission;
- edit our footage in a way that misrepresents what a guest said;
- use our content to imply that we, or any guest, endorse a candidate, product,
or position;
- use the site to harass anyone, or to break the law.
Short excerpts for commentary, criticism, news reporting, or education are
fine.
OUR CONTENT
Except where noted, the interviews, graphics, branding, and written material
on this site belong to Independent Joe. The Independent Joe name and logo are
ours.
Third-party material — campaign photographs, public records, footage used
under fair use — remains the property of its owners.
ANYTHING YOU SEND US
If you send us a question, comment, or suggestion, you give us permission to
use it, including reading it on air, without owing you payment or credit.
Don't send us anything confidential or anything you don't have the right to
share.
COMMENTS ON OTHER PLATFORMS
Discussion happens on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook under those
platforms' rules. We may remove or report comments that are harassing,
threatening, or spam. Moderating some comments doesn't make us responsible for
all of them.
THIRD-PARTY LINKS
We link to campaign websites, news coverage, and public records. We don't
control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or their privacy
practices.
NO WARRANTY
The site and its content are provided "as is." We don't warrant that the site
will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that everything said on it is
accurate.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Independent Joe is not liable for
indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the
site or its content.
GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without
regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
CHANGES
We may update these terms and will revise the effective date above. Continuing
to use the site means you accept the updated terms.
